Paros

Greetings from Florence! It’s been a while since we last wrote. We’ve admittedly fallen behind, but our internet access has been a little less reliable in Italy so we’re doing our best. We’ve spent the past 9 days in Rome and Florence, but before we get to that we have to wrap up our stay on the Greek Islands. Our final island was Paros, which operated much like a miniature Naxos. Low season was kicking in and there were noticeably fewer tourists (!) to contend with. We got set up in a nice little room with a balcony almost the same size. One thing you need to know about Greece is that there are stray cats around every corner. To our delight our hotel had taken in 2, one of which was named Papouse. Papouse (Grandpa) is old, blind in one eye, missing half an ear, a little dirty, but happy as any cat we’ve ever seen. We took a liking to him, and he began to come when we called for him. When not playing Cat Whisperers, we spent much our time lounging about and planning the next two legs of our trip. It seems every leg we’re destined to spend almost a full day just booking and planning ahead, but who are we to complain? Paros was very peaceful and we took a 1 hour walk to a perfect beach on our last day where the calm, warm water washed over us and the sun gave us what was most likely to be our last healthy dose of Vitamin D. We took in Greece’s best pizza (Hibiscus), a beautiful sunset and bid adieu to Paros as we followed the horizon to Italy. We are currently packing our things on a cool Wednesday morning to journey to Verona, but we promise (internet connection permitting) to get to Italy with more expediency than we have recently. Arrivederci!
