We are absolutely thrilled to present our newest client project, website design for photographer extraordinaire Jayme Ford of The Paper Deer Photography.
Situated in Red Deer, Alberta, Jayme is particularly adept at location scouting and capturing real moments, as evidenced by her wonderful portfolio. When approached by Jayme we were impressed with the evocative qualities of her work, and encouraged by her love of nature. In fact, for these reasons alone we were eager to work together.
When creating our initial mood boards together, a few reoccurring themes came up; soft, neutral colour palettes, floral elements, antlers (of course) and watercolour textures. Drawing from these influences we created a design that incorporated all of the above. First, we hauled out our watercolour inks and brushes, testing rigorously (and joyously!) for the right approach. From there we applied our preliminary effects to the wireframe we had developed, mocking up floral accents to serve as decorative elements. Utilizing clean, gridded layouts and delicate, traditional typefaces, we were able to seamlessly integrate a number of styles. This was made all the more cohesive once we set up a proper photo shoot, staged by uber-talented (and frequent partner) Ashley Nicole.
Best of luck to Jayme, and thanks to Tyrone from Black Plastic and Ashley from Ashley Nicole.
