A Tale of Two Weekends

We’re happy to report that it’s been just shy of a year since we began this blog. With 100+ posts under our belt, we now begin to look forward to our next 100. Summer is here and we couldn’t be happier – big plans are on the horizon, and this season promises to be as adventurous as our last. And what better way to kick it off then by getting away from work and into the wild? The following is a tale of One Minus One, as we both headed our separate directions this past weekend with great friends and traditions both new and old.

Mine (T) began at 2:45 am Thursday morning with the commencement of our 6th Annual Canoe Trip. 8 friends, 4 canoes, 3 portages, 2 trucks, 100’s of granola bars and a few beverages of choice added up to 4 days of outstanding times on Elton Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park. We experienced the highs and lows of all-night thundershowers, frequent 40km winds, scorching heat and tranquil calm. I guess you could say everything nature had to offer, and more. But in spite of it all, there are no regrets nor complaints from any of us. This yearly experience defines our group, and really makes us appreciate our what we have. A great country, the ability to physically enjoy the great outdoors, and a group with common interests at heart.

Mine (J) began at 5:00 pm Friday night, with some girlfriends in tow and a car full of good food and bevies. We headed out East to one of the girls’ cabins for a relaxing weekend — spent catching up on each others lives, and eating lots and lots of yummy food. The weather proved to be all over the place, but in the end we were still able to spend many hours outside, lounging on the dock and simply soaking up the peace and quiet that comes with cabin life.

With June officially on it’s way, we are happy to report that summer has started on the right track, and we look forward to our next adventure in just two short weeks (look out Minneapolis!)
