Concept
Like many clients, October had a successful track record, but was starting to lose clientele to online shoppers. Looking to make an entrance into the world of web, 2011 proved the perfect time to update October's brand, and a real opportunity for owner Beverly Kinahan's unique business story to reveal itself.
Solution
Through our initial meeting we learned that October's full business name was October 8 Boutique, after owner Beverly's sons birth date and a nod to her roots and interests in symmetry and anthropology. Looking to simplify her brand materials to reflect modern trends, we chose to pare her colour palette down to black and white, and to create a clever logo and pattern, slyly nodding to the company backstory. Once established, we built a series of in-store tags and certificates, and carried the design objective forward into a custom Big Cartel shop, allowing October to find it's place on the map, and to give customers a chance to browse and purchase in-stock fashions.
