As the saying goes, it’s the dead of winter. And what does one do to keep upbeat in the cold, cold heart of a Manitoba winter? Get outside, that’s what! This past weekend we decided to combat the freeze straight on by making the trek to Fort Whyte Alive, one of our favourite winter destinations. A small but peaceful getaway once located on the outskirts of town, Fort Whyte has a great little assortment of activities for nature lovers everywhere. Whether snowshoeing the trails, learning about the history of the plains, observing bison or sampling a little bannock in a real life soddy, Fort Whyte provides a great distraction for those in need of a cure for the blizzarding blues.
